MA, Marriage & Family Therapist Associate
Hello! My name is Ernest Likins (he/they), a Marriage & Family Therapist Associate dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ clients to come back to their bodies and into their innate ability to heal. Together we’ll discover your parts, understand their message, and move toward your fullest sense of Self.
I work with queer and neurodivergent individuals, couples, and families who seek to integrate their pasts and liberate their interconnected futures.
Some of my areas of focus include LGBTQ+ affirming care, mixed-neurotype families and couples, somatic approaches to working with trauma and anxiety, and issues related to chronic illness and sickness.
Working with me involves humor and humility, kindness and candor, and being goofy and genuine.
I create genograms with all new clients. This intergenerational map of where you’ve come from helps me understand the family norms you were born into and see you in the context of your life at the start of our work.
I am heavily influenced by experiential, somatic, and humanistic theories of change. I also regularly work from DBT and Trauma-Focused CBT lenses.
I hold an MA in Family Therapy and a BA in Somatic Psychology. I maintain memberships in queer and trans professional organizations and contribute to the field as often as I can. As an Associate, I receive ongoing supervision with Erin Mahone, LPC #C7329.
Outside of work, I enjoy bike rides, time in the garden, snuggling my orange cat (a regular Zoom guest), and quality time goofing around with friends.
